Rubicone

"Rubicone" PGI is a name that includes the following wines: White (also in the Lively, Sparkling and Spumante types), Red (also in the Lively, Sparkling and Novello types) and Rosé (also in the Lively, Sparkling and Spumante types). It can also be produced with the indication on the label of some vines.


Grapes

For the production of "Rubicone" PGI wines, vines suitable for cultivation in Emilia Romagna must be used. The minimum quota of use, for the types with specification of the vine, is 85%, while the remaining quota of 15% can be obtained from other varieties, berry of similar color, suitable for cultivation in Emilia Romagna.


Physicochemical and Organoleptic properties

The white wine (10% vol.) is straw yellow in colour, more or less intense, combined with a smell of good intensity, with floral and/or fruity hints depending on the composition, and a dry to sweet taste, savoury on the palate. The red wine (10% vol.) is ruby red in colour, with a vinous bouquet, embellished with fruity notes that sometimes go hand in hand with floral notes, often violet, and spicy notes; the flavour ranges from dry to sweet, with good softness and the right acidity. The rosè (10% vol.) has a pinkish colour of different tones, a bouquet with prevailing fruity notes and a dry to sweet taste, of the right softness and freshness, savoury. The single-varietal types, as well as those resulting from a particular wine-making process, have further characteristics that can be found in the product specification.


Grape production area

The production area includes the Romagna area.


Specificity and historical notes

The Latin writers narrate the presence of huge cultivations of vine between Rimini and Faenza and the production of fine wines such as the "Caesenas" and the "Faventinum".
