Friuli Annia

The is a Protected Designation of Origin "Friuli Annia" which includes white, red and rosé wines, also produced in the sparkling and spumante types. In addition, it is possible to indicate one of the following grape varieties: Merlot. Cabernet franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Refosco dal peduncolo rosso, Friulano, Pinot bianco, Pinot grigio, Verduzzo friulano, Traminer aromatico, Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Malvasia.

Grapes

The white and red "Friuli Annia" wines are produced with grapes and musts from vineyards consisting exclusively of one or more of the varieties listed above as possible label indications. When one of these varieties is specified in the denomination, it means that it has supplied at least 90% of the grapes used in winemaking. For the rosé, it can be produced with red grapes, indicated as monovarietal in the production rules. In addition, there is a further requirement: the wine must be obtained by soft pressing, with a short period of maturation on the skins.

Physicochemical and Organoleptic properties

The White (10.5% vol.) has a straw yellow aspect, more or less intense, combined with a pleasant and fine aroma and a harmonious and fresh flavour. In the Spumante variant (11% vol.), the color is lighter and brighter, the smell characteristic and fruity while the taste, ranging from brut to demi sec, becomes soft and full-bodied. Rosato (10.5% vol.), on the other hand, tends towards a light cherry and exudes a pleasant and fine aroma, with a dry, harmonious and full flavour. Dry and harmonious are also the taste notes of Rosso, which is ruby in color and is characterized by a pleasant and winy smell and a dry and harmonious flavor. Grape production area

The production area is located within the province of Udine. A strip of land overlooking the lagoon of Marano.

Specificity and historical notes

The name originates from Via Annia, which in ancient times linked Aquileia to Iulia Concordia and then to Via Emilia.
