Serrapetrona

"Serrapetrona" is a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) reserved for the homonymous red wine, produced without further indications or specifications on the label.

Grapes

Before being released for consumption, the Serrapetrona must spend at least twelve months in aging.

Physicochemical and Organoleptic properties

The "Serrapetrona" wine has a pleasant ruby red aspect and gives a characteristic and rather delicate smell. On the palate it is harmonious and pleasantly parched. The minimum total alcoholic strength by volume is 12% vol.

Grape production area

The area of production of "Serrapetrona" wine, all included in the province of Macerata, consists of two souls: mountain and high hill.

Specificity and historical notes

The "Serrapetrona" PDO obtained an independent recognition when the name Vernaccia di Serrapetrona passed into the DOCG category. The fundamental difference concerns the vinification technique, which here takes place "in red" and gives life to a still and dry wine.
