Scanzo o Moscato di Scanzo

"Lo Scanzo" or "Moscato di Scanzo" (DOCG), is a Lombard red wine covered by a protected designation of origin.

Grapes

"Moscato di Scanzo" is produced in purity, using only grapes from the homonymous vine.

Physicochemical and Organoleptic properties

It has a characteristic colouring, based on a ruby red colour, with variable intensity, which can tend towards cherry and can be embellished with garnet reflections. It releases an intense aroma, which is delicate and persistent at the same time. The taste is sweet, pleasant and harmonious and has a slight almond aftertaste. Lo Scanzo reaches a minimum alcohol content of 17% vol.

Grape production area

The production area is extremely small and coincides with a portion of the municipality of Scanzorosciate alone. A hilly territory characterized by the presence of rather steep slopes, on which climb the vines.

Specificity and historical notes

The cultivation of the vine, in the area of Scanzorosciate, is an activity that has a very ancient history and tradition. The most important historical document that attests to it is undoubtedly the will of Alberico da Rosciate, dated 8 June 1347. In fact, the text speaks of vineyards that the Italian jurist assigned to his collaborators.
