The passito version varies in colour according to the vine variety, while the aroma is fruity and floral and the taste is sweet or harmonious. The red type has a ruby colour, combined with a fruity, floral perfume and a dry, balanced flavour; the passito version is distinguished by its colour, which varies according to the vine variety, and a semi-sweet wine or sweet taste. Finally, the Rosato has a more or less intense pink colour, a floral perfume and a dry, balanced flavour. The minimum total alcoholic strength by volume is 10.00% vol. for white, 10.50% vol. for red and Rosato, 15.00% vol. for both types of passito.

Grape production area

The production area includes the hilly areas of the Lattari, the internal hills as far as the hills of Cilento and the Diano Wall, in the entire territory of the "provincia di Salerno".

Specificity and historical notes

The excellent geographical position of Campania and the fertility of its lands created, since ancient times, the myth of "Campania Felix". The descriptions of Campania's wines by the first experts in viticulture in the history of mankind are famous: Pliny, Columella, Virgil, Cato.
