Bagnoli Friularo o Friularo di Bagnoli

"Bagnoli Friularo" or "Friularo di Bagnoli" is a Protected Designation of Origin (DOCG) recognized to the red wine of the same name (also produced in the types riserva and vendemmia tardiva) and its variants Classico, Passito and Passito Classico.


Grapes

The vines used for the production of "Friularo di Bagnoli" wines must consist of at least 90% Raboso Piave and the remaining 10% of other vines with red berries, suitable for cultivation in the Province of Padua.


Physicochemical and Organoleptic properties

"Bagnoli Friularo" or "Friularo di Bagnoli" has a ruby red colour which, with ageing, turns to garnet; its aroma is vinous, intense and characteristic; its flavour is dry, full, velvety and tending towards acidulous; its minimum total alcholic strength by volume ranges from 11. 50% vol. of the basic version to 12. 50% vol. of the Riserva. The passito (12. 50% vol. ) has the same ruby red tone, tending to garnet, but associated with a characteristic and pleasant smell and a velvety flavor, ranging from medium sweet to sweet.


Grape production area

The production area is concentrated in a few municipalities, all located in the Province of Padova. This is an area characterized by a high geological complexity, given the large presence of soils originating from volcanic rocks. The climate is temperate and particularly windy.


Specificity and historical notes

The antiquity of the link between the wines and their territory of production is testified by a document dating back to 1000 A.D. This is the act of donation by the Marquis of the Dominio di Bagnoli, who expressly speaks of the wines of Bagnoli.
